Pignotti, Lamberto. – Italian poet and artist (b. Florence 1926). Professor at the University of Florence and then from 1971 at the DAMS of the University of Bologna, he was one of the founders of Gruppo 70 and, shortly after, of Gruppo 63. He is one of the creators and theorists of the so-called visual poetry that starting from the surrealist base, neo Dada and Pop, makes use of different linguistic and perceptive codes.

Thus were born the collages composed of scraps of writing and photos taken from the world of the mass media in which the images, decontextualized, summarize their meaning in their immediacy, deviating from the flattening and addiction of the original message.

A supporter of multi-sensory art, he has been the protagonist of numerous performances.

Author of essays and poetic collections, we remember: How are things (1959); Views (1982); Around the World (1987); Odyssey (1994); Otherwise (2001); Converging Scriptures. Literature and mass media (2005); Verbovisual and synaesthetic writing (2011).
